INGREDIENTS
- 150 g sesame seeds
- 4 tablespoons tamari
- 1 clove garlic (poured with boiling water)
- 1 teaspoon Sukrin Gold (can be done without)
- 1 lemon, juice from here
- Half a cup of olive oil
- Half a cup of water (or until the consistency is perfect)
- A pinch of chilli
- A pinch of salt
This Goma dressing is one of my absolute favourites. It gives an excellent taste to any salad and is also great to use as a dip. It has just about the right umami taste – Be prepared to fall in love :)
Steps:
- Roast the sesame seeds on a hot pan while stirring for about 5-8 minutes. When they start to get brown and smell delicious of sesame they are done.
- Blend the roasted sesame seeds with tamari, garlic, chilli, Sukrin Gold, lemon juice and half of the olive oil. Blend until it is creamy.
- Add the rest of the oil in and a little water until the consistency is as you like it.
- Taste it as you like with salt, chilli and lemon.
Serve:
Serve as a dip with raw vegetables, as a salad dressing or as a side dish. It is absolutely delicious and will bring a spark to almost any dish.
Anything special to remember:
- Tamari can be changed into soya sauce.
- You don’t have to use the Sukrin Gold but it will give it a sweet hint without spiking your blood sugar level.
- Can be frozen in small portions or stored refrigerated for about a week. I bet you thought that it won’t last that long.
Benefits:
Sesame seeds are a good source of healthy fats. It contains protein, B vitamins, fibre, antioxidants and minerals. When you eat sesame seeds regularly - not just an occasional sprinkling on a burger bun — it may aid blood sugar control, lower cholesterol and combat arthritis pain.
Tamari is made from fermented soybeans and used as a substitute for soy sauce. It is mostly free of wheat which is ideal if you go for a gluten-free diet. Compared to soy sauce, it is higher in protein, contains antioxidants, has a smoother taste and is less likely to have additives and preservatives.
